Old town hall

The old, three-story town hall, is located centrally on the market place in Bad Kissingen and was erected in 1577.

Multi-functional town hall

After inauguration, each Thursday, the meetings of the councilmen took place on the first floor of the town hall at that time. The open hall on the ground floor was used as a market hall by merchants and the granary occupied the upper floor.
In 1825, the building was comprehensively restored, after the citizens of Bad Kissingen averted the demolition of the town hall that was in danger of collapsing. After the restoration, the building served as a polling station for a long time. In 1833, it was turned into a school and in 1865, it was used for municipal administration offices. After another restoration, it housed the telegraph station. In local lore, the post office and the police station of the municipality of Bad Kissingen were also based in this building for some time.
